Ryanair Invests Over 140M$ for a New Base in Kaunas

While hundreds of Estonians keep regularly booking EuroLines tickets to Riga for jumping on any of the RyanAir flights available in the Latvian capital, the Irish company decided t increase its presence in the Baltics choosing the Lithuanian city of Kaunas as its new challenge.According to what declared byRyanAir, the plans are to offer customers 18 routes, including 9 new destinations right after the opening scheduled for the month of May.The base in Kaunas, the first in Central Europe, will cost the Irish company an investment of over 140 million dollars and is expected to create some 1000 new jobs thanks to its over 120 flight scheduled weekly.Michael O’Leary, head of Ryanair, explained also how the company is currently negotiating the possibility to increase the number of its European bases with other 4 Central European airports, a project confirmed directly by the Lithuanian Minister of Transports Eligijus Masiulis who declared that Ryanair is expected to come soon also to Vilnius and Palanga airp
